King Seiko
VANAC Special KS52
Rare Green Dial / 1973

Intro

This King Seiko 52KS Vanac Special from 1973 features a stunningly beautiful gradient green wave dial and rare faceted original crystals. The mesmerizing way it interacts with light is truly captivating to witness in person. It also comes with its original Vanac-signed stainless steel bracelet. This is truly a beautiful piece that any watch collector can appreciate.

Story

The King Seiko Vanac was exclusively manufactured between 1972 and 1974, boasting a range of variations, all characterized by vibrant dials, faceted crystals, and angular cases. Production involved both Seiko plants: Suwa contributed the standard KS 5626 Hi-Beat caliber, while Daini contributed the 5246 Special and 5256 Hi-Beat calibers, which were predominantly found in Vanacs rather than standard KS models.

The Vanac can be regarded as an enhanced version of the KS, featuring additional luxuries such as faceted glass, a gold bezel, a high-quality bracelet (free from folded metal links), and sometimes drilled lug holes. Notably, the Vanac JDM (Japanese Domestic Model), essentially King Seiko, held a prestigious status second only to the Grand Seiko as Seiko's top-of-the-line offering during the 1960s and 70s.
