King Seiko
44KS
2nd Gen. / 1967

Intro

This 1967 King Seiko manual-winding watch features a beautiful sunburst dial that plays elegantly in the light. Instead of the later "KS" logo at the six o'clock position, it has the more rare "King Seiko" logo. It is powered by the Caliber 44 movement, prized for its reliability. A classic, understated, no-date dress watch that suits any occasion for a gentleman.

Story

King Seiko launched in 1961 from Daini (meaning "second") Seikosha, Seiko's Tokyo factory, as a deliberate rival to Suwa's Grand Seiko. The two arms competed through the 1960s, Daini's 44KS pioneering the Grammar of Design. Positioned just below Grand Seiko, King Seiko was discontinued in the mid-1970s and revived in 2020 due to popular demand.

The second King Seiko — the 44 series — was produced from 1964 to 1968, and was also the first King Seiko to feature a gold medallion on the caseback, a tradition shared with Grand Seiko.
