Rolex
Oysterdate Precision
Rare Explorer Dial / All Red Date / 1952

Intro

A very attractive vintage Rolex OysterDate Precision dating to the year 1952. It clearly demonstrates the qualities associated with classic Rolex watches: precision, reliability, durability, and class. The original dial has aged beautifully with a charming patina and stamped gold plated explorer numerals and dagger hour indexes filled with radium plus matching dauphine hands and a blued steel sweep centre seconds sweeps across the dial.

Story

This Ref.6066 is the first production Rolex medium sized manual winding model with a date and this particular example is very desirable with it's original dial and all-red digits for the date disc. These early post-war Oyster had two-piece cases which was replaced by 6266 and a final 6466 (3 pc case) before phasing out altogether in the late 1970s.

A simple Rolex that'll last a lifetime with proper care and it uses the 10½ boy size Calibre 740 movement with 17 jewels and adjusted to 2 positions. The movement is in excellent condition, winds well and date jumps but no quick-set.
